Young Female Creative Talent Shines at McCann Central
Published on January 10, 2019
Just a few months after graduating from the University for the Creative Arts at Farnham, young creative talents, Jasmine Watt and Georgia Parker, are certainly making their mark at McCann’s Milton Keynes office.
They are the force behind a new Vauxhall TV ad which has hit the screens and is the first work example of the fresh creative team to look out for.
Tasked with helping come up with a creative solution for a campaign to support the Vauxhall Combo Cargo van, Jasmine and Georgia were heavily involved in the ad’s development as it went from original concept through to the finished film playing a key part in the director choice, casting, music selection and editing.
Both are thrilled with their initial experience of the advertising world.
Jasmine says: “I can’t believe the speed of what has happened in just a few months. One minute we were finishing our advertising course at university and the next we were in the deep end working with a live brief and all the attached expectations! It was a real eye opener. After our script was accepted, it was amazing to be trusted to be so closely involved with all the elements of turning a creative idea into an actual advert to be broadcast to the whole country”.
Jasmine and Georgia’s creative solution supports Vauxhall’s new brand identity and positions the Combo Cargo van as carrying the best of British business. They brought the concept to life by showcasing the hard grafters of Britain using the van over a typically long working day. It has a seamless flow from scene to scene to illustrate that no matter what the trade, the new Combo Cargo van works for you.
Asked about where they uncover their creative inspiration, Georgia comments: “We tend to find our ideas from really irrelevant places - often the less relevant the better, as it helps us to think in spaces that others aren’t. Working on a client such as Vauxhall allows us to extend our ideas into a whole campaign and on multiple platforms. In addition, it has been great working with so many experienced and talented people. We have learnt so much in such a short space of time and look forward to plenty more challenges in 2019.”
Their advice to other young budding creatives?
Jasmine simply says, “Show that you’re willing to try tackling any brief, big or small, because every brief is a creative opportunity… and always speak to as many people as you can about your work.”
